BOZEMAN- The investigation into the SoBo Loft fire from Valentine’s Day began Monday in Bozeman.

Crews from a number of different agencies will be spending the week investigating what is left of the building and sending evidence to Missoula and possibly Seattle.

Northwest Energy was on scene Tuesday after Bozeman Fire investigators found a minor gas leak on Monday, which Investigator Josh Charles said has not been established as being involved in the fire. Charles said investigations like this one aren’t easy.

“It’s a slow, meticulous process of slowly digging through,” Charles said. “We have a couple of items of interest that we are looking for, the general origin of the fire and areas. We kind of put that together with videos received from squad cars and surveillance cameras out in the area and kind of areas of concern that we are just trying to find what was in that area and kind of build a map of what came from where.”

He added that the builder and contractor are eager to move forward and rebuild once the investigation is complete.
