HELENA- The Montana Department of Commerce warning citizens Thursday about an imitation census survey showing up in the mailbox of Montana voters.
The imitation survey, called the “2019 Congressional District Census,” comes from the Republican National Committee and asks for a minimum $15 processing fee.
The Montana Census Center reminds residents the official U.S. Census Bureau will never ask for money.
Montana is ramping up outreach efforts ahead of the official census, which begins in March 2020.
The Census count is important for securing federal funding and will determine whether Montana will get another representative in Congress.
