BOZEMAN – A Belgrade man was charged with his fifth DUI after crashing his motorcycle Monday night.

David Brennan, 60, was seen in Gallatin County Justice Court on Tuesday. Judge Bryan Adams set his bail at $5,000 due to the length of time between this offense and his last, in 1992. The prosecution recommended a $10,000 bail.

According to charging documents, a Belgrade police officer saw a motorcycle laying on the ground at the intersection of Missoula Avenue and Broadway Street at approximately 10 p.m.

Brennan was reportedly standing over the motorcycle and was attempting to stand it up. The officer noted that Brennan was slurring his words and a strong odor of alcohol could be detected. When questioned, Brennan reportedly told the officer he had a few drinks.

Brennan agreed to provide a breath sample, which resulted in a .278 blood alcohol content, more than three times above the legal limit.

His next court appearance will be May 31.
