Fire managers say the Lump Gulch Fire burning south of Helena is now 15 percent contained.
The fire is burning in steep and rugged terrain near Sheep Mountain in northern Jefferson County.
According to the Monday morning update, the fire has held steady at around 1,500 acres in size. A Type III team is managing the fire and is using heavy equipment to build and reinforce lines around the fire.
Weather is expected to be favorable for fighting the fire, with the possibility of wetting rain.
Firefighters have not yet determined how the fire started.
The fire is burning on a combination on federal, state and private land. There are currently no closures associated with the fire, but the public is asked to stay out of the fire area to allow crews to safely work in the area.
