BOX ELDER — A fire that broke out Saturday at a church on the Rocky Boy Reservation has turned into a total loss.
The fire started Saturday morning around 10 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Box Elder.
Calvin Jilot, a firefighter with the Rocky Boy Volunteer Firefighters said the church is a total loss, but there were no injuries during the fire.
He also said fire personnel will be there to monitor until it’s completely out.
Father Joseph Tran told the Havre Herald he was in the woods cutting down a Christmas tree when he got a phone call telling him about the fire.
“We will rebuild,” he said. “The people have put a lot of time and energy into this building.”
