A human jawbone was found in the Anaconda area, according to Anaconda Police Chief Bill Sather.
A man discovered the bone Saturday while excavating a septic system in Bear Gulch.
Detectives said the jawbone appeared old. It was sent to the crime lab in Billings for further analysis.
The chief said this may not be a criminal matter.
