GREAT FALLS — The Chouteau County Sheriff's Office is investigating the killing and mutilation of a cow.
The agency said in a news release on Monday that a cow was found shot dead. The cow's face area had been skinned and the tongue removed.
The carcass was found in the Big Sandy area.

"In order not to compromise the investigation specifics will not be released, however we have evidence that this was done by a person or persons," the sheriff's office stated.

The sheriff's office said it is aware of two other similar incidents occurring outside Chouteau County.
