Montana task force arrests hit record level in 2019

BILLINGS – The Montana Violent Offender Task Force made a record number of arrests in 2019.

Last year’s numbers were released on Wednesday and show the task force arrested 1,918 felony fugitives last year.

Started in 2005, the task force finished the year with 15,353 arrests since its inception.

They also seized a large number of contraband including 8,551 grams of methamphetamine, 563 grams of heroin, 116 firearms, and 20 stolen vehicles.

United States Marshal Rod Ostermiller credited the working relationships between federal, state, and local government agencies throughout Montana.

“Together we are saving lives and making our communities safer,” Ostermiller said.

The Montana Violent Offender Task Force is a collaborative partnership between law enforcement agencies at the federal, state, and local levels of government.
