Lake County Search and Rescue, along with other agencies, are conducting recovery efforts for a missing man after receiving a call that someone had gone missing on Saturday.

Lake County Sheriff Don Bell says the man and his friend were swimming in the river near a point commonly called Buffalo Rapids.

While swimming, the man jumped in the water from a cliff and came back up, exclaimed that the current was too strong and was immediately pulled back under.

Bell says that’s when the friend left the river to call law enforcement and the search and rescue efforts began.

The search has shifted to recovery efforts and the sheriff’s office - along with Two Bear Air and with the assistance of drones - will continue those efforts on Monday.

Bell also says that they have contacted the hydroelectric dam operators to lower the water in the area.
