BOZEMAN — Gallatin County Sheriff's Search and Rescue helped a stuck snowmobiler Saturday night, according to a county press release.

Rescuers responded around 8:30 p.m. Saturday to assist a 21-year-old man local to Gallatin County who was snowmobiling by himself near Fairy Lake.

Search and Rescue arrived on snowmobiles and helped the man retrieve his machine that had gotten stuck in a tree well.

According to the press release, the man said "it was a big mistake for him to go out by himself."

Sheriff Brian Gootkin advises snowmobilers to take a partner when recreating in the backcountry.
