BILLINGS – Dr. Nick Wolter, who guided Billings Clinic as CEO from 1997 to 2017, steered the hospital through dramatic shifts in the medical landscape with a steady hand and a vast vision.

During a period of seemingly insurmountable challenges to the medical industry, mainly from the rising cost of patient care and the shrinking funds to pay for it, Wolter championed a vision for a comprehensive care network that was administratively lean and sufficiently broad enough to serve its patients every need.

In this week’s Q2 Rewind, we see how Wolter’s public appearances over the years reveal a bigger story about a healthcare system in transition. Watch the video above to take it all in.

Wolter first started practicing medicine in Billings in 1982, and then played a key role in the 1993 merger of The Billings Clinic and Deaconess Medical Center. He died Sept. 7 at the age of 70.
