A baby gorilla has been born at the zoo in New Orleans.
The sex of the baby - a critically endangered western lowland gorilla born Friday to 13-year-old Tumani and father Okpara - is not yet known, according to Zoo spokeswoman Katie Smith.
“Tumani is demonstrating excellent mothering behaviors and the entire troop is doing exceptionally well,” Smith said.
She said keepers first saw the baby Friday morning.
