A woman died after being thrown from her vehicle on Thursday afternoon near Philipsburg.
Granite County Sheriff Scott Dunkerson says emergency crews were called out at approximately 4:55 p.m. on reports of a single-vehicle crash on Upper Rock Creek road near Philipsburg.
A Montana woman was thrown from the vehicle and died of her injuries at the scene, according to Sheriff Dunkerson.
Speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
Sheriff Dunkerson noted in a news release that "these types of tragedies are [too] often reminders for everyone to please buckle up."
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Granite County Sheriff's Office and the Montana Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the crash.
