Q2 Weather: From record warmth to snow and cold this weekend

BILLINGS — Friday will be breezy with stronger winds near Livingston/Harlowton/Big Timber gusting to 60+ mph. Highs will be mild, in the mid-40s to mid-50s. Much of the plains, including Billings, could see gusts to 40+ mph.

Some record highs temperatures will follow Saturday, with highs in the 50s to mid 60s. The record high in Billings for Feb. 1 is 62, set in 1935 and Miles City reached 61 in 1995. Both could fall.

But winds are stronger, and the risk of grassland fires increases. Use care!

Everything changes Saturday night through Sunday. Accumulating snow is likely, and temperatures will drop through the day Sunday. By Monday, snow showers wind down, and we are left in the 20s for the high temperatures.

Billings forecast:

Friday.... A sprinkle or shower possible in the morning, otherwise mostly cloudy with a high near 53. West wind 15 to 30 mph.

Friday night... Increasing clouds with a low around 40.

Saturday... Decreasing clouds and continued windy with gusts to 40 mph. Could set a record high. Around 64 in the afternoon. The record in Billings February 1 is 62.
