BILLINGS — Wind continues to highlight the weather.

For Friday, winds are confined mainly into the mountain foothills area with strong gusts again expected from Livingston to Big Timber, and Melville to Harlowton at 50 to 60 mph.

Expect quieter conditions across much of Eastern Montana northern Wyoming.

Scattered showers will pop up Friday, with a quick shot of rain or snow especially through the morning and early afternoon.

Overall conditions Friday will be pleasant with highs mainly in the upper 30s to upper 40s with a few low 50s possible. Expect a mix of clouds and sun and winds are generally 10 to 20 mph.

Wind start to increase from west to east starting Friday evening, and become widespread on Saturday. As an upper-level disturbance moves across the region, winds will begin to gust and could hit 45 to 55 mph across much of the region by Saturday afternoon.

Saturday will be easily the warmest day in the short-term with highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s.

Temperature slip back to the 30s and 40s on Sunday but with less wind. Breezy periods will continue with a few isolated storms early in the week.

The overall trend is heading towards colder weather by next weekend, but keep checking back for updates.
