BILLINGS- Welcome to the last week of summer. Autumn arrives on Saturday at 7:54 p.m. However, the trees already know what time of year it is, and the leaves are already changing colors in downtown Billings.

The temperature in Billings, at 2 p.m., has only made its way up to 62 degrees. Around the rest of the state, the temperatures were mostly into the 60s and low 70s.

The weather story for Billings Monday started off with mostly cloudy skies the morning, then dry mid-level air moved in and started evaporating the clouds and pushing them away.

The result is partly cloudy skies and a few scattered showers up along the Hi-Line but nothing in south-central Montana.

We think the cloudy skies will continue to move away for the rest of the day.

We won’t warm up too much because we are going to see some light easterly breezes which will keep the temperatures basically into the low to mid-70s on Monday.

We could see a few cloudy skies roll it on Tuesday afternoon, but they too will fade away and let the sunshine in for the afternoon on Tuesday.

On Tuesday night, a new cold front starts moving in from the north and will bring cooler temperatures and a good chance of rain showers by overnight Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Temperatures for the rest of the week will continue to stay somewhat seasonal, if not just a little bit cooler.
