BILLINGS – The cool and showery weather is already starting to exit the area.

Overnight, the Billings airport recorded the first measurable precipitation for the month of September, 2018.  But little more is expected for now as the system moves toward the Dakotas.

Thursday will be cool and showery with high temperatures in the lower elevations mainly in the mid-to-lower 60s. Some snow is possible above 9,000 feet, affecting areas like Beartooth Pass.

An isolated thunderstorm or two is possible during the late afternoon and evening hours.  As the sky begins to clear overnight, Friday morning will be chilly with lows in the 30s and areas of frost.

Expect warmer and drier conditions Friday and Saturday.  Highs Friday will be mainly 70 to 75, and 75 to 80 on Saturday.

Billings forecast:

Thursday… Mostly cloudy to cloudy with a chance of showers or an isolated afternoon thunderstorm.  High near 63.  A brisk north breeze at 10-20 mph.

Thursday night… Partly cloudy with a low around 39.

Friday… Sunny to mostly sunny with a high of about 73.
