BILLINGS – Showers come and go while the temperatures stay locked on “chilly.”

Showers will develop in areas west of Billings by late Thursday morning. These will spread to Billings and the eastern plains by Thursday afternoon and evening.

Rain will switch to snow in the mountains and foothills Thursday nights, with a couple of inches of wet snow possible. Precipitation will stay mainly as rain in the lower elevations, although some of the grassy areas could see light accumulations.

Temperatures will top out mainly in the 40s Thursday with a cloudy to mostly cloudy afternoon. Showers increase during the afternoon and evening with lows mainly in the 30s.

There is a chance of a Friday morning shower. Otherwise, conditions dry out, with highs in the upper 40s and 50s Friday afternoon.

The weekend holds more cold and unsettled weather, with more chances for rain and snow.

Billings forecast:

Thursday… The chance of rain, switching to a chance of rain and snow, will increase to about 40% during the afternoon. High near 47.

Thursday night… Evening rain showers with a chance of overnight rain and snow. Low of about 36.

Friday… Possible morning shower.  Then partly sunny with around 55 for a  high.
