BILLINGS – Clear skies once again dominated our overnight forecast, which means that things are rather chilly here on Thursday morning. Wind chill values are around zero degrees, with negative values in some places.
We are in a cooler air mass following yesterday’s clipper system and that means afternoon highs for Thursday will remain brisk. High temperatures in 20s today, with breezes making it feel a few degrees cooler than that.
The clear pattern holds on Friday but a more noticeable breeze Friday afternoon and evening starts to turn the tide. In the short term that breeze will once again lead to rather cold wind chill values Friday afternoon, but the southwest flow will also serve to push out some of the cold air and warm up the forecast heading into the weekend.
A broad area of high pressure means continued clear skies across the weekend and that prolonged sunshine will see the mercury rise into the lower 40s for Saturday, Sunday and into early next week. Those clear skies will also mean that overnight temperatures will continue to dip well below freezing.
No big disturbances on the weather front as of now, clear and cool is the message with temperatures rising slightly over the weekend, so grab the jackets and enjoy some December sunshine.
