BILLINGS – Cold temperatures continue to highlight the weather.

Light snow showers will wind down Wednesday morning and early afternoon but leave the cold temperatures behind. Highs Wednesday will be mainly in the single digits below zero.

Overnight readings will be mainly in the teens below zero, with areas north of Billings is coldest with 20s below zero. Wind chill values could be 15 to 35 below zero early Thursday.

The sun breaks through on Thursday, but temperatures will only be in the teens from Billings to the west, and single digits to subzero high temperatures in the Eastern Plains.

A brief warm-up is possible with some winds coming off the mountains on Friday. Highs will be into the teens to 20s, but cold air following the river valleys from the Bighorn Basin of northern Wyoming could hold back a warm-up in Billings.

An extended period of cold can be expected through the weekend and well into next week.
