BILLINGS – Warmer than average temperatures carry us through the weekend, but we still carry at least the chance of a shower or two and wind that could increase fire risk.

For Thursday and Friday, the lower elevations stay dry and warm with readings mainly in the 60s. Even a couple of low 70-plus degree readings are expected.

Light showers can be expected in the mountains. By Friday afternoon and evening, those showers will come off the mountains and move out towards Billings.

There is a chance of showers on Saturday.

Drier conditions with wind on Sunday and Monday and gusty winds could increase wildfire risk.

By the middle of next week, there appears to be a cooling trend with a chance of rain and snow showers.

Billings forecast

Thursday… Partly to mostly sunny with a high of about 67. Southwest breeze 5 to 15 mph.

Thursday night… Mostly cloudy with a mild overnight low of near 42.

Friday… Partly to mostly cloudy with an isolated shower possible in the afternoon or evening. Around 69 for the high temperature.
