BILLINGS – The weekend is warmer than average, but rain and wind are the highlights.

High temperatures for the weekend will stay mainly in the 60s, and overnight readings in the upper 30s and 40s. Both are above the averages for early April.

Clouds and area showers will develop, especially in areas to the west of Billings on Friday afternoon and evening. An isolated thunderstorm or two in the area is expected.

Saturday remains a bit unsettled and slightly cooler. As a cold front moves through the area, showers and isolated thunderstorms will be more widespread.

Sunday dries out and the periods of wind with warmer-than-average temperatures will increase wildfire risk.

Monday is a bit of a transition day with the better chance of rain by Monday afternoon and evening. For Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday expect temperatures mainly in the 40s and 50s with scattered rain and snow showers.

Billings forecast

Friday… Mostly cloudy with a high near 68. Light breeze.

Friday night… Mostly cloudy with scattered isolated showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Low of about 43.

Saturday… Increasing clouds with a 30% chance of an afternoon shower. Around 64 for the high temperature.
