BILLINGS – Winds pick up Saturday night, showers return Sunday.

A westerly shift in the jetstream allowed for a mostly dry and warmer day across the region Saturday.

However, places along the upper Yellowstone Valley and Stillwater Valley could see gusty winds up to 50 mph Saturday evening into Sunday.

An incoming Pacific weather system will bring increased showers to the area Sunday. Area mountain snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are possible above 7,000 feet. However, no new snow accumulations are expected below 5,000 feet.

In addition to an unsettled pattern of showers, seasonal average high temperatures – in the mid 50s – will settle in for several days.

The forecast for Billings

Tonight: Mostly cloudy and warmer, light southwest winds, a 20 percent chance for isolated showers and a low of 40.

Sunday: Cloudy and mild with light southwest winds, a 40 percent chance of showers and a high of 57.

Sunday night: Cloudy with light west winds, a 40 percent chance of showers and a low of 36.

Monday: Partly sunny, a 20 percent chance of isolated showers and a high of 56.
