BILLINGS- Friday is on track to be the warmest day since last September. But changes are in store for Saturday and Easter Sunday.

Very warm, dry and breezy conditions take over the weather on Friday. Temperatures will pop up well into the 70s. Some locations, including Billings, could reach the low 80s.

Winds will be brisk, especially in the mountain foothills and through northeastern Montana. Sustained winds of 15 to 30 miles an hour with gusts over 40 mph are possible in these areas. The rest of the area will see about 10 to 20 mph winds.

Grassland fires will spread quickly in areas that have not greened up yet. Use caution, and delay controlled burns.

A cold front breaks down this weather pattern Friday night and Saturday. Cool and wetter weather will follow Saturday and Sunday.

Expect snow in the mountain. The mountain foothills could total an inch or more of rain and melted snow by the end of the weekend.

Billings could see a half inch to an inch in rainfall with the bulk of it on Saturday. Areas east of Billings will generally have lower precipitation totals.

Billings forecast

Thursday night… Mostly clear with a mild low near 48.
