BILLINGS – The gradual warm-up is underway.
Thursday’s sunshine displaces the unsettled weather pattern of the past week as mostly dry and much warmer weather moves in for the weekend.
Scattered showers and higher elevation snow showers continue to fall south of Billings into the Bighorn Basin of Wyoming on Thursday morning.
Thursday afternoon temperatures will remain mostly in the upper 50s. But by Friday, highs will edge into the mid to upper 60s – at or slightly above average for this time of year.
By this weekend, high-pressure ridging will allow for mostly sunny skies and unseasonably warm temperatures. Highs on Mother’s Day Sunday will likely be close to 80 degrees.
The forecast for Billings:
Today: Mostly sunny, light northeast winds and a high of 57.
Tonight: Clear skies, light southerly winds and a low of 37.
Friday: Mostly sunny and warmer, west winds 10 to 20 mph and a high of 68.
