Q2 Weather: Weekend warm up could start with storms

BILLINGS – Temperatures warm Friday but come with a chance of a shower thunderstorm. And we are still on track for a very warm Mother’s Day.

For Friday, expect increased westerly winds at about 15 to 25 mph. Temperatures will be warmer, hitting highs mainly in the 60s regionwide.

A Canadian cold front will bring a chance of showers and possible thunderstorms through this evening. Wind gusts to around 40 mph are possible with any of the storms before the sun sets.

Saturday will start off mainly in the 30s to low 40s and warm mainly to the upper 60s to low 70s. Expect to sunny to mostly sunny afternoon, with stronger winds east of Billings.

High temperatures will hit the 70s to low 80s Sunday and Monday, with overnight temperatures in the upper 40s and 50s. Next week will remain warmer than average, but the chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms increases later in the week.

Friday… Increasing clouds with a high near 67. Westerly wind increasing in the afternoon to 15 to 25 mph.

Friday night… Scattered late afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise, mostly cloudy with a low of about 46.

Saturday… Mainly sunny with a high near 69. Breezy periods.
