Q2 Weather: Stormy weather moves in.

BILLINGS – Out with the pleasant weather, in with the stormy weather.

More pleasant weather was reported across the region Saturday and Sunday. But thunderstorms began developing Sunday afternoon and are on the move for Sunday evening.

Thunderstorms are likely in the region Sunday evening through Monday morning. Some thunderstorms could become severe with large hail, damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Beartooth-Absaroka’s above 8,000 feet from Sunday evening through noon Tuesday. Anywhere from 8 to 15 inches of snow is likely.

Flood Watches have been posted for many counties in south central and southeast Montana and northern Wyoming Monday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon. Localized flooding along area waterways is possible due to occasionally heavy rainfall.

The Billings area could see anywhere from 1 to 1.5 inches of rain between Sunday night and Tuesday afternoon.

Cooler temperatures will also prevail across the region on Memorial Day with highs into the low 50s.

The forecast for Billings

Tonight: A 90% chance of thunderstorms and rain. Some thunderstorms may be severe with large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain. Tonight’s low: 47.

Memorial Day Monday: Cooler with a 100% chance of rain and scattered thunderstorms, northeast winds 10 to 20 mph and a high of 53.

Monday night: An 80% chance of rain and isolated thunderstorms, north winds 10 to 20 mph and a low of 44.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny and warmer, light north winds, a 20% chance of isolated showers and a high of 64.
