Warmer than average temperatures continue, and the chance of showers and thunderstorms will increase.

Thursday afternoon highs will be mainly in the 80s, and it’s possible we could see a low 90 in the Eastern Plains. Area foothills will be mainly in the 70s.

For areas from Billings to the west, the chance of showers and thunderstorms will increase later in the afternoon. Some areas could see pockets of heavy rain, small hail and gusty winds.

East of Billings, the big question of the day will be how warm will it get with temperatures running about 10 to 15 degrees above seasonal averages.

Friday will trend not quite as warm, with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s. Afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms will still be hit and miss but more widespread into the Eastern Plains.

The extended outlook is for temperatures in the mid-70s to low 80s through early next week. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoons and evenings every day.

Billings forecast:

Thursday… Partly sunny with a high near 86. Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

Thursday night… Evening scattered showers and thunderstorms.  Otherwise mostly cloudy with a low of about 60.

Friday… Partly cloudy with increasing scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. About 84 for the  high.
