BILLINGS- Not exactly the kind of weather we hope for on the Fourth of July.

More showers and thunderstorms are expected for Independence Day and Friday. There is a good chance for rain showers and thunderstorms scattered across the area through Friday evening.

Some areas of heavy rain can be expected especially in Southeast Montana. This could cause some localized flooding and problems on rural roads.

Temperatures will remain seasonally cool, with highs only in the 60s to mid 70s Thursday, and upper 60s to upper 70s on Friday.

Over the weekend, temperatures begin to warm back to the upper 70s and 80s Saturday. By Sunday, readings could hit the upper 80s to around 90 in a few locations.

At least some chance of showers and thunderstorms pops up each day through the middle of next week. Current trends would show a chance of some stronger storms especially on Monday.

Billings forecast:

Independence Day… Expect a mix of clouds and sun an area showers and thunderstorms. A high of about 73.

Thursday night… Mostly cloudy with area showers and thunderstorms. Low near 56.

Friday… Area showers likely with possibly a thunderstorm in the afternoon. Otherwise, partly to mostly cloudy with a high in the neighborhood of 74.
