BILLINGS – We don’t escape the chance of showers and thunderstorms over the weekend, but there are some changes in store.

A disturbance Friday will bring periods of showers and thunderstorms. For much of the area, including Billings, the best chance of rain will be during the morning and early afternoon.

Areas of southeast Montana could experience some localized flooding with areas of heavy rain for strong to severe thunderstorms through the afternoon. Otherwise, severe storms are not expected Friday.

Things dry out a bit during the afternoon and evening, as a high-pressure ridge builds in for Saturday. Afternoon highs Saturday will be mainly in the mid to lower 80s.

There will not be a lot of showers and thunderstorms Saturday, but there is the potential for storms with gusty winds and hail.

Sunday will be the warmest day with highs in the mid to upper 80s with a few isolated storms. Monday could be more active with strong to severe storms possible.

Billings forecast:

Friday… A chance of showers and thunderstorms decreasing during the afternoon. Otherwise mostly cloudy with a high of about 75.

Friday night… A chance of an early evening shower thunderstorm. Partly cloudy with a low around 55.

Saturday… Mostly sunny with isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. High near 83.
