Q2 Weather: Severe storms possible

Monday has the best chance of strong to severe storms.

Showers and thunderstorms will impact much of the area this afternoon and this evening, with some storms producing hail, strong winds, and areas of very heavy rainfall. Flash flooding is possible some of the storms in southeastern Montana today.

Temperatures will be cooler than average, hitting highs mainly in the 70s near 80 Monday, and mid to lower 70s on Tuesday. Showers and thunderstorms will linger on Tuesday but much less chance of severe storms.

The rest of the work week will trend warmer, with highs mainly in the 80s and lows in the upper 50s and 60s. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms will develop hit and miss across the area.

Billings forecast:

Monday… Increasing clouds was showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening. Some storms could be severe with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain. High near 78.

Monday night… Showers and thunderstorms mainly before midnight. Some storms could be severe with damaging winds, heavy rain, and hail. Low near 56.

Tuesday… A mix of clouds and sun with a 40% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Around 74 for the high.
