BILLINGS — Temperatures soar from average to possible record setters by the weekend.

Temperatures will be close to seasonal averages on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs mainly in the mid-60s to mid 70s both days. Eastern Montana will trend slightly warmer.

A week disturbance could create a few sprinkles or showers especially south of Billings through northern Wyoming on Wednesday. Showers will be limited mainly to the higher elevations Thursday.

Drier and hotter conditions build in for the weekend. Highs will move up to the upper 70s to low 80s Friday, and well in the 80s Saturday.

Sunday could be close to record high temperatures with highs in the upper 80s to mid 90s. Early next week, highs remain in the 80s.

There are some indications some stronger thunderstorms could develop by the middle of next week.

Billings forecast:

Wednesday… A mix of clouds and sun. Isolated showers. High about 73. Variable light wind.

Wednesday night… Partly cloudy and near 51 for a low.

Thursday… Partly to mostly sunny and around 70 for a high.
