BILLINGS — Good morning!

Expect drier conditions today although there could be a few snow showers this morning. Winds will increase with gusts of 35+ mph possible this afternoon, up to 50+ mph from Livingston to Big Timber and up to Harlowton. The high in Billings today will push to around 40 then slide back to the mid 30s on Friday.

A clipper begins pushing colder air in starting tonight, so the chance for snow returns as we’ll have ample moisture to work with. A backdoor cold front moves in starting Friday and thus begins a stretch of the most meaningful snowfall we’ve seen since mid-December.

Expecting daily snow showers Friday through Monday that could bring significant accumulation. Models vary on the totals, but 5-10” is not out of the question. Winter Storm Watches will be in effect for most of the area. Light snow could hang on into early Tuesday before drier conditions return.

The coldest air so far this winter is on pace to blanket the area this weekend into next week with highs in the single digits by Sunday in Billings. Overnight lows will dip well below zero as early as Sunday morning and continue through mid-week.

Keep smiling!
