Q2 Billings Area Weather: Heat one day, cool and windy the next

BILLINGS — Temperatures peak Saturday before a change to cooler and more blustery weather.

High temperatures Friday will be warm, hitting mainly the 70s. Average highs this time of the year would typically be in the mid to lower 60s. Expect sunshine a light wind.

Saturday starts in the 40s and hits highs in the upper 70s to upper 80s. Some record highs could be threatened, including Billings. The airport would have to officially reached 87 to tie the record for October 10.

A cold front moves through Saturday night into Sunday bringing higher elevation snow, scattered rain showers for the lower elevations, and wind gusts that could reach up to 50 mph. Temperatures will be significantly cooler, only in the 50s to low 60s on Sunday and Monday.

More fall like temperatures will follow, with more fall like temperatures next week.

Billings forecast:

Friday… Sunny and warm with a high near 77. Light invariable wind.

Friday night… Clear to mostly clear with a low of about 47.

Saturday… Sunny to start with near record high temperatures. High around 84. Wind increases during the evening with a chance of overnight showers.
