BILLINGS — A warm-up builds in Tuesday, but a break down to showers and cooler temperatures is likely by Wednesday evening.
A high-pressure ridge combines with just enough winds down the east mountain slopes Tuesday to boost many of the temperatures in eastern Montana to their warmest so far in 2020. Highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s will be widespread with plenty of sunshine.
Winds of 15 to 25 mph with stronger gusts are expected from Livingston to Harlowton in the usually wind-prone areas. Stronger gusts will mix in throughout the day.
After slipping to the 30s and low 40s overnight, highs will run just a bit cooler Wednesday, reach the 60s with possibly a few low 70s. Clouds increase, and the chance of showers rises through the afternoon and evening from west to east.
There is a slight chance of thunderstorms Thursday and Friday with widespread showers and cooler temperatures. Expect snow in the mountains.
Highs to end the work week will be mainly in the 50s to low 60s and lows in the upper 30s and 40s. The trend is warmer and drier for Saturday and Sunday.
Billings forecast:
