BILLINGS — Still on track for a sharp shift in the weather this weekend, but we are still working on the fine details.
Record high temperatures are possible Thursday, with highs in the 60s to mid 70s. Billings would have to reach 74 degrees the airport to tie the Nov. 5 record.
Winds continue to be strong in the east mountain slopes and breezy across the plains Thursday. In the mountain foothills wind gusts could hit up to 60 mph.
A series of disturbances Friday and Saturday will cool temperatures to the 50s to low 60s for the highs. Expect a mix of clouds and sun and overall nice fall weather.
Winter storm system moves into the area Saturday night with rain switching to snow or mixed precipitation overnight. Sunday will be colder with highs in the 20s and 30s persisting into next week. Expect areas of snow and blowing snow Sunday.
The exact track of the weather system and how much snow fall we should expect our details to iron out. Keep checking back for updates.
