BILLINGS — Clouds will hold back the temperatures a few degrees Wednesday and bring at least some chance of a shower or thunderstorm.

Highs will back off to the 80s and mid-90s from Billings to the west and south Wednesday and Thursday but could still hit 100+ degrees in the Eastern Montana Plains on Wednesday. Clouds will increase through the day Wednesday from west to east.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop Wednesday in the mountains and surrounding areas west of Billings, with a few showers and storms in the plains. 40 to 50 mph wind gusts are possible around storms.

After similar conditions on Thursday, Friday will be dry and sunny. Saturday is shaping up to be the hottest day, with highs back in the mid-to-upper 90s.

Billings forecast:

Wednesday… Increasing afternoon clouds with isolated showers and thunderstorms. Storms could produce gusty winds. High near 93.

Wednesday night… A chance of a shower or thunderstorm that can produce strong wind gusts before midnight. Otherwise partly cloudy with a low of about 65.

Thursday… Mostly sunny with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Around 94 for the high.
