Q2 Billings Area Weather: Shift to wintry weather this weekend

BILLINGS — Wind still highlights the weather the next couple of days, before colder weather with rain and snow move in for the weekend.

Thursday is unsettled, with a chance of morning showers and breezy conditions in the afternoon and early evening. With a mix of clouds and sun, highs will be in the 40s to low 50s.

Chilly overnight, with lows in the 20s to low 30s for some of the coldest temperatures so far this season. Friday is somewhat warmer, with highs in the 50s to low 60s… closer to seasonal averages.

Expect strong wind gusts closer to the mountains of up to 65 mph Friday. Some of this wind will push out towards Billings especially by the afternoon and early evening.

A cold front moves through the area early Saturday bringing a chance of early morning rain switching to snow. Temperatures will give progressively colder or hold steady through Saturday afternoon.

Expect highs only in the mid to lower 30s on Sunday and Monday and lows in the 20s. Areas of snow showers will develop off and on.

Billings forecast:

Thursday… Scatter rain and snow showers in the morning with decreasing clouds in the afternoon. Breezy periods will follow with a high of about 50.

Thursday night… A few isolated showers otherwise partly cloudy with a low near 32.

Friday… Partly sunny with isolated rain showers. Winds increase 15 to 30 miles an hour in the afternoon stronger gust possible. Around 61 for the high.
