BILLINGS — As light snow ends Monday, periods of wind pick up during the week.

A quick round of snow has moved across the area from Sunday night through Monday morning. As the snow leaves through the day, temperatures will stay chilly but quiet weather is expected for Monday night.

Tuesday will trend a little warmer, but the winds will increase into the mountain foothills West of Billings. Areas like Livingston and Harlowton could see wind gusts topping 50 mph.

Other than some mountain snowfall and a few flurries in the lower elevations, the pattern looks somewhat dry from Wednesday through the weekend. Winds will be brisk from around Billings to the West off and on.

Winds could be a concern this weekend around the Livingston, Big Timber, Nye and Harlowton areas. Temperatures will be mainly in the upper 30s to upper 40s later in the week.

Billings forecast:

Monday… Snow ending with a cloudy afternoon. About 34 for the high.

Monday night… Mostly cloudy with a low around to 21. Westerly wind 5 to 15 mph.

Tuesday… Mostly sunny with a high near 37. Winds increase later in the day.
