Q2 Billings Area Weather: The Thanksgiving weekend forecast

BILLINGS — Showers highlight Wednesday’s weather, with wind standing out on Thursday and Friday.

Wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph will be common around Livingston/Harlowton/Big Timber/Nye on Wednesday. A wind advisory is in effect for the Livingston and Beartooth foothills with travel for high profile vehicles likely affected.

Clouds increase across the region Wednesday with a chance of showers. Three to 6 inches of snow is possible for the Beartooth and Absaroka mountain ranges. Expect light snow near the foothills and rain and scattered snow showers for the lower elevations, including Billings.

The sky will start to clear during the late evening hours Wednesday. Highs will be mainly in the 40s Wednesday afternoon and drop to the 20s early Thursday.

Highs on Thanksgiving will be mainly in the 40s with a mix of clouds and sun and breezy periods. Expect similar conditions on Friday.

An extended period of near average to slightly higher than average temperatures will continue with generally dry conditions continuing through the first week of December.

Billings forecast:

Wednesday… Cloudy to mostly cloudy with a high near 46. West wind 10 to 20 mph. Isolated afternoon and evening rain and snow showers.

Wednesday night… Clearing overnight with a low of about 27.

Thanksgiving… Mostly sunny with a westerly wind of 15 to 25 mph around 43 for the high temperature.
