BILLINGS — The winds are easing up for a little while and so to are the temperatures.

Periods of wind will continue Tuesday evening with gusts to around 50 mph. Winds will ease up overnight through Wednesday morning.

Overnight readings will be colder, dropping down to 15 to 25 degrees. With a decent lift in the atmosphere, bands of snow showers will develop, especially east of Billings.

There is a chance of morning showers Wednesday, with decreasing clouds and temperatures mainly into the 30s Wednesday afternoon. Higher elevation communities from White Sulfur Springs to Cody, Wyoming, could stay in the 20s.

As a high-pressure ridge builds in Thursday, winds increase in the mountain foothills making it breezy in the plains. Highs will move to the upper 30s to low 40s Thursday and Friday afternoons.

A weak cold front Friday into Saturday again brings a chance of scattered showers and presses temperatures back into the mid-20s to mid 30s Saturday afternoon.

Generally dry weather will follow with another warm-up. Highs could reach the mid to lower 40s by Tuesday.

Billings forecast:

Tuesday night… Mostly cloudy with a low near 20 isolated evening showers with decreasing winds.

Wednesday… Decreasing clouds with plenty of afternoon sun. Light wind and a high of around 34.

Thursday and Friday… Partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. Breezy periods.
