Q2 Billings Area Weather: Thunderstorms Thursday could bring wind

BILLINGS — Our focus is on Thursday with a chance of thunderstorms.

Expect mostly dry conditions Wednesday with afternoon highs in the 80s to low 90s. A few thunderstorms are possible in the higher terrain and foothills by the afternoon and evening.

Thursday will be hot, with high temperatures in the 90s with some triple digits possible. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over the mountains Thursday afternoon, and move across the plains.

Gusty winds are expected with stronger storms.

A cold front passes through the area Thursday night through Friday morning, leaving us slightly cooler. Highs will be mainly in the mid-80s to mid 90s through early next week with generally dry conditions.

Billings forecast:

Wednesday… Sunny and very warm with a high near 91. Light variable breeze.

Wednesday night… Mostly clear with a low around 62.

Thursday… Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 95. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening that could produce gusty winds.
