Q2 Billings Area Weather: Wind and snow come and go

BILLINGS — “Wind” keeps popping up in the forecast through the weekend.

Temperatures take a pop upward Tuesday with widespread highs in the 30s to low 40s. Clouds generally increase from west to east along with the wind.

Closer to the Livingston / Big Timber / Harlowton areas gusty winds will produce pockets of snow already on the ground to blow, drift and decrease visibility. Travel on I-90 and Highway 191 from Big Timber to Harlowton will be affected.

Winds will be lighter across the rest of Southern Montana and Northern Wyoming.

A cold front drops in from the north on Wednesday creating mainly mountains snow. 3-9 inches of accumulation in the foothills to the peaks for the Beartooth and Absaroka ranges are expected.

Temperatures cool to the 20s and low 30s for high Wednesday, with scattered to isolated lower elevation snow showers.

Wind and warming temperatures highlight the weather closer to the weekend. Look for mainly 30s Thursday, and highs in the 40s starting Friday with periods wind and isolated snow showers.

Tuesday… Increasing clouds with a high near 40. Westerly wind 10 to 20 mph.

Tuesday night… Partly cloudy with a low of about 23.

Veterans Day… Cloudy to mostly cloudy with isolated snow showers. High around 32.
