BILLINGS — A warm-up is coming, but it is a package deal with strong winds.
Wednesday will be the coolest day in the short-term, with high temperatures in the 20s to low 30s. Expect a mix of clouds and sun and scattered light snow showers.
Snow will favor the mountains to the West of Billings and through areas of southern Montana and northern Wyoming. Areas in the plains, including Billings, could see a quick shower or flurry.
Chilly overnight lows will drop to mainly the teens early Thursday. By the afternoon, expect a sunny to mostly sunny day with high temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s.
Winds will increase around Livingston on Thursday and expanded to around Big Timber northward to Harlowton on Friday. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are anticipated.
Areas as far East as Billings will be breezy on Friday, but the strongest winds are anticipated Saturday. Weekend wind gusts from Billings westward could reach 40+ miles per hour.
Highs will stay mainly in the 40s for the lower elevations through the weekend with early signals showing the 50s by Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. After Wednesday snow showers, things look dry.
