BILLINGS — It certainly is a beautiful day in our neighborhood. Here in Billings we have mostly sunny skies and the temperature right around 41 degrees with winds out of the Southwest, at 20 mph.
Around the rest of the state our current temps are into the 20s and 30s out in the West and the same thing in the East, but right around Great Falls and Billings temps are actually up in the 40s.
We still have a Wind Advisory until 6 AM tomorrow morning for the Beartooth foothills for winds gusting to 60 mph.
Meanwhile, up in the Northwest corner of the state we have a Winter Weather Advisory, West of Flathead Lake for 1 to 3 inches of snow and East of Flathead Lake for 2 to 5 inches of snow until 11 AM Thursday.
Right now, you can see the snow moving into West central Montana from Missoula to Great Falls. Back here in Billings we are still looking at mostly clear skies with just a few wispy high clouds here or there.
Our high-resolution forecast model shows those clouds continue to roll in from the Southwest today and more snow continues to move into the Northwest this afternoon as well. By tonight we will still be looking at mostly cloudy skies, with more snow out West.
At midnight, Billings could see a little rain mixing with snow in northern Yellowstone County. That all goes away later in the day on Thursday with mostly sunny skies in store for Friday morning.
We will see increasing clouds and a chance of rain on Saturday morning which could turn to snow late in the morning and mix with rain Saturday afternoon.
The computer models suggest Billings will seem nothing measurable for snowfall. In Northwest Montana, Kalispell could see 4 to 6 inches of snow and 2 to 4 inches in Missoula.
We will stay in the 30s for the rest of today and then bump up to 41 degrees, by 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
We will keep it in the 40s the next six days but pop up to 48 degrees on Sunday and the back to the mid-40s on Monday and Tuesday.
