BILLINGS — It has turned out to be a very sunny day on this Christmas Eve 2020. The temperature in Billings in the early afternoon is a very comfortable 42 degrees at 2 p.m. with some stiff southwest winds at 21 mph gusting to 31 mph.
Around the rest of the state our current temps are mostly into the 20s and 30s out West, but we do see 40s and 50s in South central and Eastern Montana and look at that, Jordan and Miles City are already in the low 50s.
Plus, it's a pretty breezy day across South central Montana, over at Livingston, they've had wind gusts last hour of 49 mph. Meanwhile around the Cut Bank and Havre area, they've had 37 mile-per-hour winds.
Plus, there is a Wind Advisory for the Beartooth foothills until 11 AM Friday morning for winds gusting to 60 mph.
The Doppler radar and satellite imagery shows a pretty dry sky out there, just a few wispy high clouds moving through the central part of the state.
The high-resolution forecast model shows smooth traveling today across all of Western Montana. Even on Christmas day it'll be smooth traveling with mostly cloudy skies.
However, starting on Saturday morning, some more snow showers will start moving into the West and by Sunday, we could see snow showers in south-central Montana and the city of Billings.
The computer model suggested it will just be light stuff. Even in Billings, it won't be measurable, maybe some light flurries.
It will be 40 degrees at 5:30 p.m. tonight and then we will roll it back down to the mid-30s in the morning and back up to 46 degrees by 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
We will top out at 48 degrees on Friday, then roll it back to 45 on Saturday, then drop down into the 30s on Sunday, through the middle part of next week.
