BILLINGS — The general theme is sunny and quiet. But it remains cold through Thursday morning, with windy periods especially late Thursday through Saturday morning.

Highs will hit mainly the 20s to low 30s Wednesday despite a sunny to mostly sunny afternoon. Northeast Montana remains in the icebox with highs in the teens or even single digits.

Another cold start Thursday with lows in the single digits and low teens. But as winds increase in the mountain foothills, afternoon highs recover to the upper 20s to low 40s.

A progressive warm up builds through Saturday, when most of Southern Montana and Northern Wyoming will manage to make it to the 40s.

There is some uncertainty early next week, but the trend is leaning toward a bit colder, windier, and wetter weather.

Billings forecast:

Wednesday... Mainly sunny and a high near 30. Southerly breeze 5 mph.

Wednesday night... Low of about 15 and clear.

Thursday... Sunny and close to 37 for a high. Southwest wind 10 to 20 mph.
