BILLINGS — Mild temperatures continue but so do the gusty winds.
A disturbance moves through the area Thursday spreading winds from the mountain foothills to the eastern plains. While the winds will not be as strong in the mountain foothills, expect sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph across Eastern Montana toward the Dakotas.
Afternoon highs will be mainly into the mid-30s to mid 40s and generally warmer than average. Overnight temperatures will slip to the 20s to low 30s with exceptions in the Bighorn Basin and northeastern Montana where readings will be in the teens.
Friday looks reasonably comfortable overall. It remains breezy but without the strong wind gusts, and with a mix of sun and clouds highs will be mainly in the mid 30s to mid-to-upper 40s.
Saturday will be the warmest in the short-term with highs hitting the upper 40s to mid 50s across the plains. An increase in winds can also be expected Saturday.
Billings forecast:
Thursday… Partly to mostly cloudy with a high of about 47. Westerly wind increasing 15 to 30 mph with gusts as high as 45 mph.
