BILLINGS — Warmer than average with strong winds with a few showers for good measure the next two days.
High temperatures mainly in the 50s Tuesday and Wednesday with low humidity and wind gusts topping 50 mph bring increase rangeland fire risk. Winds in the mountain foothills could top 60 mph.
A few showers early Tuesday will bring only a little rain or snow. Even a rumble of thunder in southeast Montana on Tuesday afternoon is possible.
Winds will back off a bit as a cold front ripples by Tuesday night through early Wednesday. But more wind develops through the day.
After two windy days, Thursday is comfortable with mainly mid-to-lower 50s for highs, lighter winds and at least some sunny periods. Friday and Saturday are on track for upper 50s to 60s for highs but with increased wind Friday.
Billings forecast:
Tuesday... A 30% chance of rain and snow through the morning. Otherwise sunny to mostly sunny, with a high near 56. Northwest wind increasing to 25 to 45 mph with gusts as high as 60 mph.
Tuesday night... Increasing clouds, with a low around 35. West southwest wind 10 to 20 mph.
Wednesday... Sunny to partly sunny, with a high near 56. West wind 10 to 20 mph increasing to 30 to 40 mph with gusts as high as 55 mph.
