BILLINGS — Wind will highlight the weather through the week.
Strong winds in the mountain foothills will increase around Livingston and Big Timber through the day Tuesday with possible gusts to 75 mph by Tuesday night. Harlowton and Judith Gap areas will also see the wind increase Late Tuesday through New Years Day.
Billings will be breezy with gusts to 40 mph Tuesday through Thursday.
Expect sun in the eastern plains Tuesday with increasing clouds from Billings westward. Rain and snow showers will increase overnight to welcome the new year. Snow will be heavy at times in the Beartooth/Absaroka Mountains.
Highs will be in the 30s to mid-40s Tuesday with more of the area hitting the 40s on New Years Day. Highs will stay in the 40s, and even a few low 50s, through the weekend and early next week.
Billings forecast:
Tuesday...Increasing clouds with a high near 42. Southwest wind 15 to 25 mph could gust to 40 mph.
New Years Eve... Mostly cloudy with a low of about 31. Scattered rain and snow showers overnight. Southwest wind 15 to 25 mph.
Near Years Day... A chance of morning rain or snow, during partly sunny by the afternoon. High close to 48. Winds continue to gust to 40 mph or stronger.
